"It's hard to imagine a Robin without a Batman, but I guess it's up to me to figure that out."
— Robin

Timothy “Tim” Drake, known by his aliases Robin or Red Robin, is a member of the Bat Family.

Profile

Tim Drake may be the youngest of the Bat Family but he’s also the smartest and a master of deductive reasoning. Tim is a true believer in Batman’s mission and is motivated by the conviction that Gotham City needs a hero rather than by personal loss. Batman was a mentor of the highest caliber who personified the type of man Tim hopes to become.

An expert fighter armed with his collapsible quarterstaff and skilled in the art of stealth, Tim also possesses a background in combined psychological warfare and behavioral sciences, all of which sets the stage for him to accomplish any mission.

Biography

Before Gotham Knights

Following the death of Jason Todd, Tim Drake realized that Batman needed a Robin. After deducing both Batman and Nightwing's secret identities, he presented himself to them both and managed to assume the role of Robin. Batman trained Tim intensely, making him a capable field-agent.

He later joined the Titans, and became friends with Cassie Sandsmark, Conner Kent, Bart Allen and Victor Stone. Conner Kent became his best friend and the two often went cryptid hunting. As Tim Drake, he attends a high school in Gotham City, where he meets Bernard Dowd and develops feelings for him throughout the story.

During Gotham Knights

Robin is present with Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood as they're summoned to the ruins of Wayne Manor following Batman's duel with Ra's al Ghul. Robin was devastated to discover his mentor's death and took it especially hard. He attended Bruce Wayne's funeral along with the rest of the Bat Family and joined them at his grave as they discussed Batman's last case file which involved Kirk Langstrom. The team split up, with some heading to the Belfry to set it up for operations, and others heading to investigate Kirk Langstrom at Gotham University.

Robin becomes embroiled in the mystery surrounding the Court of Owls, using his superior detective skills and stealth to research the cult and to later find out who leads the organization. His set of skills neatly compliment those of his teammates and together they defeat the Voice of the Court and later Talia, declaring war on the remaining members on the Court of Owls.

Throughout the events of Gotham Knights, Tim is shown to be having a hard time coming to terms with the loss of his mentor and father figure, sharing his grief more openly than the more reserved Jason and the acting cheery to put everyone at ease tactic that Dick employs. Tim's side story involves him finding a way to be Robin without having Batman at his side, something he finds a solution for towards the end of the game. With the help of his family and Alfred, he becomes his own hero and remains Gotham City's sworn protector alongside the other Knights.

Appearance

Tim is the youngest of the Bat Family members, standing much shorter than Dick and Jason. Despite his small stature, Tim is a well built young man with short black hair and blue eyes.

When not in his Robin attire, Tim changes clothes multiple times throughout the story. He is always carrying headphones, however, and appears to be listening to music almost constantly.

As Robin, he wears a uniform in the standard red and green Robin colors.

Trivia

  • Like other recent iterations of the character, Tim is bisexual in Gotham Knights. [1]
    • He is open about his sexuality, even discussing his developing feelings towards classmate (and current boyfriend in the comics) Bernard Dowd with his family, who encourage him to act on his feelings.
    • It can be inferred that the pride flag on the wall in the Belfry is Tim's, but it could also be Dick's, who is implied to be bisexual in this game as well.
  • Tim is the only member of the Batman Family that isn't shown to have been in conflict with Bruce prior to his death. Both Jason and Dick have been in conflict with Bruce in much the same way as their comic book counterparts, with both of them since having reconciled with their mentor.
    • Barbara also hasn't been in direct conflict with Bruce, but her paralysis at the hands of the Joker and the subsequent death of her father, have had a significant impact on their relationship.
