- "Bruce gave me purpose… and I'll go to Hell and back to see it through."
— Red Hood
Jason Todd, known by his alias Red Hood, is a member of the Bat Family.
Profile
Jason Todd is an intense and volatile anti-hero. It all stems from dying a violent death and then being forcibly resurrected by one of Batman's most dangerous foes. He has trouble keeping his temper in check, but he will not hesitate to step into the line of fire when a friend is threatened. Red Hood wants crime to pay because Gotham City is built on a foundation of corruption, and he’s been on the receiving end of it far too often.
Jason has trained to reach the peak of human strength, and he’s proficient in multiple combat techniques with all manner of weapons—both traditional and high-tech. After reconciling with the Batman Family, he has embraced Batman’s non-lethal combat methods.
Biography
Before Gotham Knights
Jason Todd was an orphan who had a drug addicted mother and a criminal father who was in jail. He was raised by his grandmother for some time, but eventually ended up on his own. Jason ran around streets stealing tires for money to survive. One night Jason tried to steal one of the Batmobile's tires and Batman found him. Batman adopted Jason and gave him the position of Robin after Dick Grayson became Nightwing. Jason was ruthlessly killing criminals and when Joker blew up a school and knew Batman wasn't going to kill him, Jason took matters into his own hands. This got Jason kidnapped and tortured by The Joker, who sent Batman a video of him killing Jason. After his death, Batman gave the position of Robin to Tim Drake. Jason's body was found by the League of Shadows who put it the Lazarus Pit, this brought Jason back to life. Jason took the alias Red Hood and went after Batman as an attempt to kill him. After Batman had fixed Jason and made things right, Jason rejoined the Bat family.
After this, Jason, with the help of the family, was able to change his ways. He embraced Batman’s non-lethal combat methods and built a good relationship with the members of the family. Although Jason still shows an aggressive side, he now refuses to kill people again.
At some point, he started a romantic relationship with a flight attendant named Isabel Ardila. They dated for while until they broke up but, just like Dick and Barbara, Jason and Isabel remained on good terms and were able to stay friends. Isabel sometimes sends Jason books, as she sent him a british edition of a comic book of Commander's Honor from London.
