Dr. Victor Fries, known by his alias Mr. Freeze, is a scientist and supervillain operating in Gotham City and a long time foe of Batman and the Bat Family. He had an agreement with Batman to refrain from committing crime in exchange for resources for his research. With Batman's disappearance, Freeze's steady income of research materials has stopped and he has resumed his life of villainy.

Mr. Freeze is desperate to cure himself of a condition that requires him to be confined within a suit that keeps his body at an extremely low temperature. He’s convinced that getting cured will allow him to get back together with Nora, his estranged wife. This goal overrides everything else and has stripped him of any empathy or morality. As time goes on, he becomes less and less tied to his original goals, and more interested in villainy for its own sake.
