James "Jim" Gordon was the Commissioner of the Gotham City Police Department. He is the father of Barbara Gordon.

Before Gotham Knights[]
James Gordon was the Police Commissioner of the GCPD. He grew to have a strong relationship with the vigilante Batman. At one point Batman eventually revealed his identity to him. Jim often relied on him to stop criminals threatening Gotham City.
Gordon was killed in the line of duty, effectively destroying the trust built between the GCPD and the Bat Family. His death pushed his wheelchair-bound daughter Barbara to train and recover from her wounds so that she could return to active duty as Batgirl.

- In Bruce's audio logs it is revealed that he revealed his identity to Jim, making this one of the only incarnations of Jim Gordon that Batman has openly told his identity to.
