Profile
Biography
Before Gotham Knights
In 1988, when his parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, were gunned down in front of him, young Bruce Wayne resolved to rid Gotham City of the criminal element that took their lives. He trained extensively to achieve mental and physical perfection, in addition to mastering martial arts, detective techniques, and criminal psychology. When he returned, he became Batman, a vigilante who fought crime with the aid of specialized gadgets and vehicles and operated out of a secret Batcave underneath Wayne Manor.[1]
At the insistence of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce began to made Audio logs as a means of Bruce to record his thoughts and feelings.[1]
Sometime during his role as Batman, Bruce would adopt and take on Dick Grayson as his first protégé.[1]
During his tenure as Batman, Bruce would often go to extreme measures to hide his identity. Bruce would often go out in public and do outrageous acts and actions such as pretending to be drunk at the Iceberg Lounge and strip dancing for the crowds. He would then plant the evidence of his deeds and stunts as Bruce Wayne in the GCPD and News Outlets to coincide with the times he was acting as Batman to remove suspicion of Bruce being Batman. Dick reveals that Bruce did this so often, that no one would question the date and times of his acts as Bruce Wayne, citing that the "drunk dancing" stripper act was actually on an entirely different night then reported.
Batman served as Gotham's protector for over fifteen years until his encounter with Ra's al Ghul resulted in his death. Later, a news article reported his death as caused by the collapse of Wayne Manor.[1]
Bruce had a contingency plan in the event of his death: Code Black. Bruce ensured that upon his death, a pre-recorded message would be sent to the members of the Bat Family. In the message, Bruce acknowledged that it wouldn't take long for criminals to realize he was gone and that the Gotham City Police Department had been unable to trust them since the death of Jim Gordon. He then stated that he was leaving them the Belfry as a base of operations and trusted each member to keep Gotham safe.[1]
During Gotham Knights
At the start, Batman is ambushed by Ra's Al Ghul in the Batcave, being shot in the chest and spine by poison tipped crossbow bolts. After inoculating himself of the poison and sending a distress signal out to Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood for assistance, Batman resumes what becomes his final battle while buying time for the Bat-Family to show up and has his entire back burned heavily during the battle, though the Batsuit was able to protect him from severe burns. The intensity of the battle destroys majority of the cave, including the Bat-Plane and Batcomputer. After impaling himself on Ra's sword to show him that he isn't afraid of dying Batman briefly incapacities him to initiate his Code Black Protocol and begins to take off the Batsuit and seal the Batcave, trapping himself and Ra's inside. When Ra's catches back up the Batman, he tells him he is going to kill the Bat-Family, Alfred and then burn Gotham to the ground. Batman then detonates the Batcave along with Wayne Manor. While the cave explodes, Batman charges at Ra's, finishing his battle once and for all as the cave explodes, killing himself and Ra's.
Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood arrive as the Manor explodes and search the rubble, finding Bruce's corpse. As Jason holds back Tim, Dick and Barbara take off the rest of the Batsuit and move Bruce away from the remains of the Batcave, placing his body in what would be more logical to hide his identity before leaving.
Following his death, Dick reveals to the rest of the Bat-Family that due to the GCPD and reporters poking around that Bruce may have been Batman, they all agree to plant evidence distancing Bruce and Batman at various GCPD precents and Newsroom servers.
It is revealed and uncovered that it was Talia al Ghul who manipulated and set Ra's upon Bruce which led to their fateful battle killing them both. Now in command of the League of Shadows, Talia then steals Bruce's body and dunks him multiple times in the Lazarus Pits that were hidden deep under the Batcave to break down his will and to hopefully remove his no killing rule. When Bruce's successor tracks her down and into the depths of the Batcave, Bruce is revealed to them as her new General for the League.
During the battle, Bruce's successor begins to appeal to Bruce and ultimately breaks him free from her control. However, the reunion was short lived as Talia, desperate to keep Bruce on her side moves in to kill his successor with a sneak attack, but Bruce sees it coming and takes what would be the killing blow for them. Mortally wounded but not dead, Bruce lets his Successor finish Talia, giving them a motivational speech prior. During the battle he climbs himself up the remains of the Bat-Plane. The Court of Owls arrives in full force ready to kill both Talia and Bruce's Successor, however Talia leaves them to fend for themselves.
- "It was never the criminals of Gotham that scared me. It's you. The rich who want more. Politicians who pander to your reckless demands. Police who hurt the people they're supposed to protect. You're not going to get this Lazarus Pit. Because I won't let you."
— Bruce Wayne's final words, to the Court of Owls
Bruce reveals himself to the Court and tells them to run as the Bat-Plane roars to life as he begins to threaten the Court of Owls to end them all and in one final act, Bruce flies the Bat-Plane into the Lazarus Pit. The explosion completely destroys the Lazarus Pit and once again kills Bruce.
Following his second death, Bruce's Successor to his mantle hijacks every frequency in Gotham, revealing themselves drabbed in a new suit and exposes The Court of Owls to Gotham and vows to fill in the void left by Batman.
Appearance
Batman was a tall middle aged man with short black hair and blue eyes. Due to his years training to be the Batman, Bruce is of muscular build and at peak physical condition. In his casual attire, Bruce wears a standard suit and tie. As Batman, Bruce wears a black and grey armored suit that consists of a cape and a mask that feature bat-like ears and white lenses like his comic book counterpart.

Trivia
- Gotham Knights is the second Batman video game to depict Bruce Wayne's death. The first was in Batman: Arkham Knight. However, unlike Arkham Knight, Bruce’s death was confirmed in Gotham Knights.
- This is one of the only versions of Batman to have a voice modulator.
- Despite being a normal human, his training allowed Bruce to tolerate high amounts of pain and keep fighting even with severe injuries. During the ambush the injuries he sustained included:
- Shot in the left side of chest and spine with a poison tipped crossbow, with the bolts penetrating deep into his chest and back
- Fell an unknown height onto the Batmobile after being shot twice by a crossbow
- Had horrific burns along his entire back, which was hot enough to burn through the Batsuit and his skin
- Stabbed through the left side of his abdomen and appeared to be fine a few minutes later, ready to resume his battle
- Suffered numerous deep cuts and lacerations along his chest
- Despite being blown up and had the entire Batcave and Wayne Manor collapse onto his head finally killing him, his body was actually fully intact and he was out of his Batsuit for this as well
- Following his resurrection, he would be stabbed clean through, protecting his successor and still able to fight, walk and climb up rubble and debris to reach the Bat-Plane
- Following his resurrection, Bruce could be classified as a metahuman as he demonstrates similar Lazarus powers to Ra's and Talia including teleportation and being able to manipulate Lazarus energy to create explosions and shockwaves from punching the ground.
